Forget quick calls
This pisses me off so much.
Seriously, it's SO annoying.
"Can we hop on a quick call?"
"It'll only take 5 minutes."
"Let's schedule a quick call."
This doesn't work.
Quick calls are anything but quick.
The so-called 5 minute calls are usually 10, 15, or even 30 minutes long.
Even if you're available right now for a quick call, that matter could have been handled perfectly well with a well-written message and question or a very fast video.
Why the need to drag someone into a call that will naturally extend way beyond the initial 5 minutes?
Not to mention that calls destroy your focus. The 5 minutes (in reality, 15 minutes) don't account for the 20 minutes of regaining focus afterwards.
So please, before you request a quick call, think about what you're doing and how you're sending and requesting information.
And one more thing: scheduling a quick call doesn't fix this.
You're merely postponing it. It'll remain inneficient.
On top of that, it'll always be super frustating to have to interrupt a perfectly productive day with a 15 minute call, only to then realize it could have been a message or a video.
Don't do quick calls. They're anything but quick.
